Hello from a bright and beautiful day at the Magic Kingdom! It wasn’t the craziest day we’ve had in a park, but we still found some exciting things to show you. Let’s get started!
While passing through the Transportation and Ticket Center on our way to the park, we noticed that the EPCOT monorail entrance had been painted overnight in the new blue and gold color scheme in preparation for the 50th anniversary celebration. For more pictures and information, check out our article here.
Once we were inside the park, we saw that mounting hardware had been installed on Cinderella Castle in preparation for the final decoration, the 50th anniversary shield, to be mounted in front of the clock to complete the look. Click here for more pictures and details on this new addition.
The ports built in to the left side of Cinderella Castle stage have been covered over with patches of flexible footing similar to what covers the rest of the stage.
We found a fresh patch of new concrete blocked off from guests in Tomorrowland near the outdoor seating of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. This new patch once again blocked one side of the walkway in this area in between the restaurant and Tomorrowland Speedway.
Work continues on refurbishment of Dumbo the Flying Elephant. This wall was repainted on the top half for some time, but is now completely painted.
The Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station engine has been painted, and the protective coverings and tape have been removed, except for where Casey Jr.’s face is.
The refurbishment of The Barnstormer’s entrance sign has begun, with the footings recently repainted in bright blues.
The “Wheel of Peril” in the queue for The Barnstormer was also repainted.
All of the vignettes on Prince Charming Regal Carousel have been refurbished and put back into place. Work is now being done on the filigree areas that cannot be removed for refurbishment, so visible progress on applying new gold leaf is evident. On Monday we noticed that the animatronic butterflies on the Jungle Cruise were not operating, so we checked on them today. We found the first set flapping rather enthusiastically, and the second set still motionless.
It was a similar story with the animatronic Natives further on in the expedition. The first set was working, but the second and third set were not moving.
We also found an additional piece of the “Abandoned Pygmy Welcoming Party” scene had been removed. The hut behind the canoes was missing today. For more pictures and information, check out our article here.
After checking on all of the construction for the day, we turned our attention to merchandise. First, we found this new “Mandalorian” Open Edition pin at Frontier Trading Post for $12.99.
Next, we found this new varsity letter Mickey Mouse hat at Fantasy Faire for $27.99.
At The Emporium, we found this fantastic “Beauty and the Beast” jewelry box for $79.99.
We also found new adjustable masks available with elastics that go behind your head in two fun prints. For more pictures and information, check out our article here.
We had a wonderful day at the Magic Kingdom, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
