Great though it is to find the latest generation of VESA Display TVs and monitors
finally pushing hard to accommodate the sudden explosion in new gaming graphics features, it’s also started to make buying a new gaming VESA Display even more complicated than it was before.
Whether that process has been made easier or harder by the arrival of new Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) Adaptive Sync VESA Display standard is a matter of perspective. But what we can say with certainty today is that the first monitors officially certified as being able to support the VESA standard have now been revealed as two LG UltraGear models: The 27GP950 and 27GP850.
As a result of their certification, both of these monitors will be able to market themselves with a VESA AdaptiveSync Logo that’s been designed to help consumers easily spot and compare the variable refresh rate (VRR) performance of gaming VESA Display that support VESA’s Adaptive-Sync protocol.
Securing the VESA AdaptiveSync VESA Display certification isn’t just a matter of LG asking VESA if it can have it. Both the 27GP950 and 27GP850 will have had to go through a test process involving more than 50 different criteria – including such essentials as refresh rates, screen flicker, latency and gray to gray response times – to earn the VESA logo.
Both of the LG 27-inch monitors that have earned the debut VESA AdaptiveSync certification feature LG’s Nano IPS panels, which combine wide viewing angle support with an expansive colour range, 4K resolution, high refresh rates, HDR support, and response times as low as 1ms.
“The VESA Adaptive-Sync VESA Display CTS creates a clear, consistent standard for VESA Display performance of gaming monitors and helps consumers to make informed purchasing decisions,” says Jim Choate, compliance program manager at VESA. “The world’s first products to wear the new AdaptiveSync Display logo, LG’s UltraGear gaming monitors, performed remarkably well in all applicable tests.”
Not surprisingly, LG for its part is very happy with its world first. Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics’ Business Solutions Company, has this to say of the news: “We are proud the LG UltraGear became the first-ever monitors to receive VESA AdaptiveSync VESA Display certification. With upcoming 2022 models including UltraGear 27GP95R, we will not only meet the high standards of VESA’s performance tests, but also satisfy the expectations and diverse needs of today’s consumers.”
