Next up on our 2021 review of the Browns’ unrestricted free agents is LB Elijah Lee.
Productivity Level Last Season: Lee played almost exclusively on special teams for the Browns, registering 5 tackles and 1 assist during the regular season.
Why Keeping Him Could Make Sense: Lee’s best season came in 2018, when he logged 54 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 passes defended. Other than that, he has been a role player or contributor on special teams. As a former seventh round pick, there’s no doubt that he would really only require a minimum level contract to come back and compete for a spot on special teams again.
What the Browns Should Do: Lee showed some potential with the 49ers in the past, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Cleveland gave him another look during the offseason. But there is not much I have to assess him on, and with the team needing to upgrade the linebacker position, it’s doubtful that Lee would be considered for a starting role here.
Let us know below whether or not the team should try to re-sign Elijah Lee.
